This international conference and brokerage event for the Social Sciences and Humanities (SSH) community in Research, Development & Innovation took place in Athens, Greece on 26th & 27th February 2014.

The event addressed issues such as:
First day (conference):
The conference focused on the important contribution that SSH research has to make towards a Resilient Society and the political objectives of the Europe 2020 strategy.
A specific thematic focus was put on the following themes:
• The European Social Model – Its Sustainability for Future Generations
• SSH contributions to a competitive Europe - Creativity and Culture
• Making sense of Social Innovation!
Second day (brokerage event):
On the second day details were presented about the funding opportunities in the Work Programme and first calls in Societal Challenge 6 of Horizon 2020 “Europe in a changing world: inclusive, innovative and reflective societies”. SSH opportunities in other elements of Horizon 2020 were also discussed. In addition, the importance of impact in Horizon 2020 research proposals was emphasised.
Three parallel sessions focused on specific elements (t.b.c.) of the Horizon 2020 Work Programme for Societal Challenge 6 including presentations from the Commission, project coordinators and evaluators.
The Brokerage event itself gave participants the opportunity to have pre-arranged meetings with other participants to identify possible collaborators in the SSH elements of Horizon 2020.
