The integrated "Strategic Research Roadmap", covering the period 2011-2013, presents the main topics and displays a comprehensive planning and coordination for the research community as well as for the European Union policies. Major long-term societal challenges and urgent topics are identified and a corresponding research agenda is presented. However, this roadmap is purely indicative and subject to change. It is legally non-binding for the European Commission and only serves information purposes .

European forward-looking activities: Building the future of ‘Innovation Union’ and ERA

For the preparation of the Common Strategic Framework for EU Research and Innovation (CSF) and its Impact Assessment, the Commission organized in Brussels, on March 2011, an interactive seminar with more than sixty European forward look practitioners (foresight and forecast experts) and European stakeholders, mostly coming from the research community, industry and EU policymakers. Following this event, this publication presents a synthesis of European and national forward-looking exercises in the fields of science, technology and innovation.

Global Europe 2050, Executive Summary

This publication presents the results of a European foresight expert group who worked on "The World and Europe up to 2050: EU policies and research priorities". Following the EU report "The World in 2025" published two years ago, "Global Europe 2050" has a longer-term perspective to tackle issues such as natural resources availability, infrastructures and territorial dynamics.
